Murga in Buenos Aires

If you really want some carnival action this year but would prefer to remain in Buenos Aires, then the city offers its own street parties throughout February. ‘Murga’ is a traditional type of musical theatre celebrated by Uruguayans and porteños, and during February over 100 murgas are performed across many barrios in the city. With both traditional music and costumes, the celebrations will give Buenos Aires a carnival rhythm throughout the month. It promises to be enjoyable for people of all ages as every weekend celebrates in a different neighbourhood, and at the end of the month Plaza de Mayo hosts a final send off party for the street revellers.
