A 14-year-old died on Thursday from a gunshot wound fired from a group of policemen. It was on the second day of the national strike in Chile. Over a thousand protesters and been taken prisoner and hundreds have been injured.
Manuel Gutiérrez died in hospital in the town of Macul in eastern Santiago. He was moved there after receiving a gun-shot wound to the chest.
Meanwhile, the lawyer for Defensoría Popular, Washington Lizana, did not rule out legal action against those responsible for the murder of the boy.
Besides the death of Manuel Gutiérrez, an 18-year-old was also seriously injured. Parraguez Mario Pinto was shot in the eye while involved in a barricade.
Deputy ministero of the interior, Rodrigo Ubilla, said the second day of the National strike left a total of 3,940 prisoners and 200 injured civilians and soldiers.
The protest action called by the Confederation of Workers (CUT) was attended by various sectors with demands of the government of Gobierno de Sebastián Piñera. They demanded new jobs and an updated constitution.
