Two earthquakes occurred in Mexico City early this morning, although neither inflicted damage. These are the third and fourth earthquakes to hit the country in the last six days.
The first one was felt at 5am this morning, reaching 5.2 on the Richter scale, while the second (5.0 on the Richter scale) occurred at around 8am.
Yesterday, a 6.5 earthquake struck near the western state of Michoacan, and later in the day another 6.9 earthquake was felt in the Gulf of California.
Town mayor Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon insisted through his twitter account @m_ebrard that no significant damage to buildings, and no casualties have been reported.
Damage to the power supply was reported in several cities, and the largest tremors were felt 200 miles away in Mexico City, but no emergency called were reported.
