Police Officer Dies After Assault and Shooting

A federal police officer who was shot while resisting a robbery on Sunday in Buenos Aires died this morning, according to reports from local media.

Police sources confirmed to Telam that Alejandra Carina Andrada died in Hospital de Morón, while her husband who was also shot during the robbery remains in hospital. He suffered a bullet wound in his foot and another in his right shoulder.

Andrada and her husband – Juan Luis Muñoz, who is also a police officer – were in civilian clothing with their two daughters on Sunday when they reached their home in Morón in the western suburbs of Buenos Aires. They were surprised and attacked by three robbers.

A shootout began, which left the two officers and one robber injured.
The neighbours came out to assist victims and called the police and ambulance. The two daughters – two and five years old – were uninjured, but Telam reports that neighbours noted the girls’ nervousness and state of shock.

Investigators are now trying to find a security camera in the area.
