Event: Freshwater: a Comedy by Virginia Woolf

Date: Sunday 24 June 2012, 20:30

Virginia Woolf’s only play in its first-ever Spanish adaptation, translated, adapted and directed by María Emilia Franchignoni.

An absurd and outrageous comedy, Freshwater is centered on the life of the famous portraitist and photography pioneer Julia Margaret Cameron, the aunt of Virginia Woolf. The play resonates with humor, following with the English tradition of “nonsense”, and accentuates the eccentricities of its characters and the absurdity of the situations they face. Ahead of its time, the work employs several theatrical techniques characteristics of later playwrights, making it a precursor of the Theatre of the Absurd.
