The end of year celebrations of Christmas and New Year’s Eves see fireworks light up the skies over Argentina. There are some government-sanctioned displays, but mainly it’s a cacophony of explosions as people try not to blow their own hands off. Photographer Beatrice Murch shares some of the views she’s captured over the years in Buenos Aires.

What should we expect for New Years?
I remember last year as being very noisy but not seeing much.
We were in the park in Recoleta , watching with everyone else … it was pretty good !
These are great! really gave me a feel for what it was like to celebrate the new year in BA!!
This year I was in BA for Christmas Eve and I’ve got to say that the view over the city during the fireworks is truly spectacular, and the experience was one of a kind for me. “Explosions in the Skyline” really illustrated the power of BA and the fireworks at night.
Great stuff.
