The train accident at Once highlighted the safety issues and lack in maintenance on the Sarmiento line run by TBA. There were demonstrations calling out the corruption and lack of maintenance on the lines. The Saturday after the crash, mourners gathered at Once train station to hold a vigil. This was before Lucas’s body was found between two train-cars and riots broke out as anger over the horrific and late discovery of Lucas who had been missing since the crash. Last week people marched downtown demonstrating against corruption at TBA and in the federal government, a sisyphean task. Today, two weeks after the tragic accident, the secretary of transportation Juan Pablo Schiavi stepped down from his post. Photographers Alisson Carriel da Silva and Patricio Murphy each share their photos of the events.
