Girl’s Night Out is a new concept in diversion purely for women over the age of 18 presented by Expat Connection and YoQueVos for the first time on 17th December.
With drinks, fashion, beauty and much more, this event offers a special day to spend with friends or the perfect place to make new ones, whilst helping LALCEC in its fight against breast cancer. It takes place in trendy Palermo, Buenos Aires’ epicentre of fashion.
Expat Connection is a group that organises an ample range of events that bring together foreigners and Argentines in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. YoQueVos dedicates its time to discovering the best that the active and varied city of Buenos Aires has to offer: design, fashion, gastronomy, events and all that which it believes nobody should miss out on.
The Girl’s Night Out event takes place in three stages. We were warmly greeted at architecturally kitsch, semi-outdoor upmarket shopping mall Fuentes de Malabia (Malabia 1720) at 7pm sharp with champagne, platters of dainty and delicious finger food and a DJ spinning some very chilled out tunes.
We were allocated our raffle tickets and all our shopping discount cards and a map of the shops in Palermo partaking in the promotions as well as our free goody bag packed with girly treats such as chocolate brownies and beautiful ornamental soaps.
My companion and I headed straight to hairdresser and beauty parlour Ruben Orlando, within Fuentes de Malabia, to get our names down early for the free haircuts and manicures that were on offer. We then sauntered along to the upstairs VIP lounge, where a jazz band was playing, to rummage through our goody bags and wait our turn.
After being pampered like princesses with our new hairstyles and perfectly manicured nails, we congregated with the rest of the group in the central open-top courtyard for the raffle with prizes of gifts donated by the various fashion outlets, which were simply divine and very expensive.
We noticed a gaggle of girls oohing and aahing and giggling awkwardly around a stand in the far corner of the courtyard and went to investigate. It turned out that the stand was that of Sophie Jones (www.sophiejones.com.ar) and her erotic adult toys. In fascination I tried on some rather exotic heart-shaped nipple tassles handmade with red sequins and gold thread. I recommend the glow worm vibrator, the ‘mini wormie’, which felt extremely soothing against my nose at any rate (apparently this is the proper way to test vibrators).
Embarking upon the second of the three stages of the evening, we pulled out the map and left the comfort of Fuentes de Malabia to explore the surrounding shops and boutiques and see what fashionable Palermo had to offer. Although we didn’t purchase anything on the night itself, the Girls Night Out discounts last one week so no need to worry about impulse buys!
At 11pm our group reunited at Sugar bar (Costa Rica 4619) for the final stage of the event to discuss and show off our purchases as well as use our free drink voucher and relax with new friends after a very exciting evening of any girly girl’s ultimate dream. We happened to bump into friends and while I was very sad to have to share my brownies, I loved making them all jealous telling them about my simply faaabulous experience.
If you book as a group of three or more, each ticket costs $35. Otherwise it’s $40 each. Tickets on the door cost $45. Visit www.girlsnightoutbuenosaires.com for information on future events.
