Las Tortillas de Pancho Villa

Buenos Aires isn’t known for its Mexican food, but a little tortilla delivery service by the name of Las Tortillas de Pancho Villa has made a name for itself over the past few years. Specialising in 100% corn tortillas, the menu also includes corn dough, wheat flour tortillas, tortilla chips and several types of salsa. Can’t choose just one item? The combo deals give you a mix of tortillas and salsa, perfect for any party munchies. Gabi Setién, a native of Veracruz, Mexico and her husband Pablo Schidlowski own Las Tortillas de Pancho Villa. After moving to Buenos Aires in 2006, Setién found herself craving the Mexican food she grew up with. Affordable, high quality tortillas seemed hard to find, so Setién opened Las Tortillas de Pancho Villa, a throwback to the famous Mexican revolutionary.

There’s no denying that New York has the best bagels in the world, and now Quiero Bagel has mastered the recipe for the perfect New York bagel… and they’re delivering it to your door. With the tagline “Flavour of New York in Buenos Aires”, Quiero Bagel got its start following Diego Macador’s US roadtrip, during which he scoured the country for the best bagel making secrets. He came up with an array of flavours, including classics like sesame, onion and plain, and flavoured bagels like cheese, blueberry and coconut. Quiero Bagel even does pizza bagels, with cheese, pepperoni, ham and mushroom options. One item they offer that even New Yorkers might not have heard of? The zen bagels. In flavours like carrot juice, oat and Linden tea, Quiero Bagel really does have something for everyone. Available by the half-dozen and dozen, all bagels are delivered frozen so you can heat them as you’re hungry. Order some cream cheese or lox on the side and you’re set.

0800 Vino

Launched in April 2008 by wine aficionado Nigel Tollerman, 0800 Vino sells wine by the bottle or the case and delivers it to your door in less than an hour. The website allows you to choose your wine based on type, price, region of origin, grape variety, winery, event type and what you’re drinking it with. Tollerman moved to Buenos Aires in 2002 to pursue a master’s degree in business administration, and while he was here, he received wine qualifications at la Escuela Argentina de Sommeliers. For his degree, he wrote a thesis about plans for a wine delivery service in Buenos Aires that could deliver quality wine to customers in the region. Nowadays he is considered one of the top expat sommeliers in Argentina. In fact, when Francis Ford Coppola made a visit to Buenos Aires in 2008, he sought out Tollerman’s expertise by inviting him to dinner in La Boca. He was so impressed, he appointed Tollerman as the custodian of his wine collection. Need further convincing? 0800 Vino has wine tasting classes in both Spanish and English.
