Argentine artist Martin Ron, considered one of the best street artists in Buenos Aires, was selected to paint the mural. Martin always has a twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face, and a witty remark. “I learned to paint and draw when I was seven years old and haven’t stopped since,” he explains. “I’ve never received formal training and am mostly self taught… what I like most is the freedom of painting in the street, to do something that hasn’t been done before.”
Martin did not get paid to do this monumental mural but says he did it simply to make the neighbourhood a more beautiful place. He was often seen talking to people in Villa Urquiza who stopped to look at his artwork and waved at the steady stream of cars that honked with approval. Most of the local residents were excited to have such an incredible piece of art in their neighbourhood and hope to see the Villa Urquiza Urban Arts District project continue.
Martin Ron’s mural is located in Villa Urquiza at the intersection of Dr. Pedro Ignacio Rivera and Holmberg and will be ‘officially’ inaugurated on Wednesday 14th August.
